Hour of the Reaper Winged Figurine

A skeletal reaper holds a scythe in one hand and an hourglass in the other, framed by broad black wings. Dark robes fall around the figure to a rocky base, while the pale skull watches from beneath a deep hood.

Standing 19.4 cm tall, the hand-painted resin figurine combines feathered wings, weathered-looking robe folds and exposed bone details. The long scythe curves above the hood, while the hourglass creates a second focal point and reinforces the figure’s darker symbolism of time and mortality.

The Reaper, the Scythe and the Hourglass

The Grim Reaper became one of the best-known personifications of death in European art and folklore, most often shown as a cloaked skeletal figure carrying a scythe. The blade developed naturally from harvest imagery, where cutting grain became a metaphor for the end of life.

The hourglass adds a second traditional memento mori symbol, representing the passing and eventual ending of time. Bringing the two together gives Hour of the Reaper a clearer symbolic theme than a simple skeletal figure, while the wings add a dramatic dark-fantasy interpretation.

Why This Item Stands Out

  • Combines two classic mortality symbols: the scythe and hourglass.
  • Broad black wings give the reaper a dramatic silhouette.
  • Pale skeletal details contrast strongly against the blue-black robes.
  • Feather texture and weathered robe folds add detail across the whole sculpt.

Hour of the Reaper works particularly well in a gothic display built around mortality, time and darker symbolic imagery. The hourglass gives the figure an extra layer of meaning, while the wings and sweeping scythe keep it visually striking from across the room.

Continue the darker theme through our Reapers and Skeleton Ornaments, or pair the tiny hourglass with a larger working piece from our Sand Timers. For more imposing dark figures, browse our Gargoyles, Grotesques and Horror collection.

Display and care

Place the figurine on a stable, level surface and leave enough room around the wing tips and scythe.

Support the base when lifting, dust gently around the hourglass and feather details with a soft, dry brush, and do not lift the figure by the wings or blade.
