Autumn Equinox Green Man Wall Plaque 14.5cm

Oak leaves curl around the solemn face of Autumn Equinox, creating a Green Man wall plaque rich in woodland detail. Acorns sit among the layered foliage, while warm brown and bronze-toned highlights bring out the changing leaves and textured features of the tree spirit.

Its compact circular form gives the sculpt plenty of detail without overwhelming a smaller wall space, while a sawtooth hook on the reverse makes it ready for display.

The Green Man, Oak and the Turning Year

Leaf-covered faces have appeared in European art and architecture for centuries, particularly in medieval churches and cathedrals. Today these foliate faces are widely known as Green Men and are often interpreted through ideas of vegetation, renewal and the continuing cycle of growth, decline and return.

The oak makes an especially fitting choice for an autumn Green Man. One of Britain’s most familiar native trees, the English oak has long carried associations with strength and endurance, while oak groves also appear in older ritual and mythological traditions. As the year turns towards autumn, its leaves change from green to yellow and red and its acorns mature and fall to the woodland floor.

Those acorns also carry the next generation within them. Most become food for woodland wildlife, but those that survive may germinate in spring, making the oak a particularly clear natural example of the seasonal movement from maturity and release towards future growth.

Why This Item Stands Out

  • Autumn interpretation of the traditional Green Man foliate face.
  • Layered oak leaves and acorns reinforce the seasonal woodland theme.
  • Warm bronze-toned finish with hand-painted autumn detail.
  • Compact 14.5 cm design with a built-in sawtooth hanging point.

Autumn Equinox works particularly well as part of a seasonal Green Man collection, with the oak leaves and acorns representing a woodland at the point of ripening and release. The combination of mature foliage, falling seed and weathered expression gives the plaque a quieter character than a spring or summer design, making it a fitting piece for anyone drawn to seasonal symbolism, folklore and nature-led décor.

Follow the changing face of the woodland through our Green Man and Goddess collection, or find more sculpted designs for your walls among our Wall Plaques and Signs. Its warm, aged finish also pairs naturally with the sculptural tones found throughout our Bronzed Figurines.

Hanging and care

Use a wall fixing suitable for the surface and sawtooth hanger, checking that the plaque is secure before releasing it.

Handle the projecting leaves and acorns carefully, and use a soft brush or dry cloth to remove dust from the deeper sculpted areas.
